Call for Outreach Quilts Help

This September we gave six quilts to Baby Steps, one to KRMC Infusion Center, one to Northwest Montana Radiation Oncology and the remaining two to the Dialysis Clinic.

We could have distributed more if we had them!

The supply of lap quilts is sparse, (actually non-existent). Any help you can give Outreach in getting the un-quilted stack at Glacier Quilts "quilted" would be greatly appreciated.  If you have time to donate, or ever quilts to donate, please let us know.

Thanks to all for volunteering for this great effort!

Thank you for a great show!

Wow! It was a whirlwind weekend but what a quilt show we had! I heard so many comments and compliments on the caliber of the quilts we displayed. What a talented group we are!

My sincere thanks to Donna Caffee and all her committee chairs who worked tirelessly to put the show together. Being involved in the show is a great way to get to know more of your fellow guild members. It’s also a great opportunity to get up close and personal with the quilts to see the finer details of the piecing, quilting and embellishing.

Be sure to let Jane Crawford (next year’s quilt show chair) know how you’d like to be involved.

So now that we’ve successfully completed the quilt show, our next event will be the December potluck. Our guild will be hosting the Bigfork guild this year. Thank you in advance to everyone who steps up to make this a sterling event.

Enjoy the changing fall colors, that crisp air, the gorgeous skies. And get ready to hunker down for winter which will give you lots of time for quilting!

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the October 6 meeting when we’ll have a round-robin educational program. If you’ve not come to a meeting in a while, I hope you’ll join us!

Your Prez,
 Susan Favro

Happy New Year!

We hope that you're staying warm and enjoying starting some new (or finishing some not so new) projects.

Please remember that our first meeting this year will be on January 9th (the 2nd Thursday instead of the usual).  We will learn to make origami ornaments and all materials will be provided!

Also, our 2014 membership dues are now being accepted.  Renew or join now so that you can be sure to get the latest directory, are able to be part of the 2014 quilt show, join in on the retreats and
workshops and seminars and educational programs and....well the perks of membership just seem to grow every year!

You know you are a Quilter If....... .
There's more Fabric in the House than Food
"Fat Quarters" are not the heaviest part of your body
Your ironing board is always set up but you never iron clothes
You think of your job as an interruption of your quilting time
You pet Fabric
People are always picking threads off you
You can measure a scant 1/4 by eye
"Featherweight" Doesn't mean Boxer
You clean up your sewing room & your family thinks you are moving out.

The Heat Is On!

It has been an above-average temperature kind of summer here in the Flathead and although many of us are working hard to harvest the bounty from our gardens, our internal clocks are starting to go off to get our quilting done before we find ourselves at the end of September and hanging quilts for the show!

Registrations are in, and our committees are hard at work getting all the information (deciphered!) and typed into the lovely story cards that you see with each exhibit. Programs are being designed and drafted for the printers and vendors are stocking up on all the fun products that we'll fall in love with come Quilt Show time.

Be sure to spread the word!  Our best advertising is your word of mouth.  And if you are traveling from out of town, be sure to ask if the hotel you're staying at honors a quilt show special.

Upcoming benefit for the Dialysis Clinic in Kalispell

As a part of our Outreach and support of our community, our guild makes quilts for a number of organizations.  One of these is the Dialysis Center:

In conjunction with National Kidney Month in March and Organ Donor Awareness Month in April the Dialysis Clinic Patient Fund is planning a fundraiser Saturday May 12th at the Eagles in Kalispell MT.
There will be a Spaghetti Dinner, Raffle drawings and Door Prizes along with an Auction.
Admission is $6 for Adults and $3 for kids 12 and under.

If you would like more information or have an item you would like to donate, please contact Robert at the Dialysis Clinic:  406 756 5565

We hope you will be able to attend this event, or if you can't attend, that you consider making a donation for their great work.  You can also join in on our Outreach sew days to help put together the quilts given to patients to add some comfort during their difficult journey.
